Socially distant Bocce Ball Tournament happening in Kimberley

An annual Kimberley event is returning a little different this year.

The Elks Club of Kimberley’s July-fest Bocce Tournament is back with a socially distant aspect.

Organizer Ron Christensen says participants will register their teams of four and compete against at least three other teams in smaller tournaments taking place in their neighborhoods, with the winners receiving four free drink tickets from the Elks club.

“Hey have to register, all the details are on the Elks website and also on social media,” Christensen says. “Just register so you’re teams are known, do that by Friday night and we hope everybody as much fun as they can under the circumstances and we go from there.”

Christensen says they wanted to preserve the interactions between players that he feels is a key draw for the game.

“I played Bocce ever since it’s conception,” he says. “I hate to see it go, there was a lot of people who said Can we do something? And this is what we came up with. It’s not much, but we’re going to do the best we can with it.”
